Reaction Time Test (Average of 5)
Measure your true visual reaction time by averaging 5 attempts. Compare your reflex speed with pro gamers and global statistics.
Test Your True Reflexes
How the Reaction Time Test Works
This test measures the time interval between a sensory stimulus (visual color change) and your motor response (clicking). It is a direct indicator of your central nervous system's processing speed.
Why Average of 5 Attempts?
Reaction time is variable. A single attempt can be influenced by luck, anticipation, or a momentary lapse in focus. To provide a scientifically valid metric, this tool requires you to complete 5 consecutive rounds. By calculating the average of these 5 attempts, we eliminate outliers and provide a score that accurately represents your consistent cognitive performance level.
Benchmark Standards: Where Do You Stand?
- Pro Gamers / F1 Drivers: 150ms - 180ms (Exceptional)
- Above Average: 200ms - 240ms
- Global Average: ~273ms
- Below Average: > 300ms
Factors Affecting Your Score
- Hardware Latency (Input Lag): This is the biggest external factor.
- Monitor Refresh Rate: High refresh rate monitors (144Hz+) update the frame faster, showing the green stimulus ~10-20ms sooner than 60Hz screens.
- Input Device: Wired gaming mice typically have lower click latency than wireless mice or trackpads.
- Biology: Fatigue, age, and hydration levels play a massive role. Reaction time naturally peaks around age 24.
Tips to Improve Your Score
- Pre-tension: Rest your finger lightly on the mouse button, removing any gap (travel distance) before the switch activates.
- Soft Focus: Instead of staring hard at a specific pixel, soften your gaze to react to the sudden change in overall screen brightness/color.
