Color Sensitivity Test
Online Color Sensitivity Test. Can you distinguish subtle color shades? Challenge your visual perception and color discrimination skills with this professional-grade test based on HSL color space.
Spot the Difference
This tool is designed to deeply evaluate your Color Discrimination Sensitivity through the classic gameplay of "spot the difference." This is not merely a game, but a visual limit testing tool based on HSL color space algorithms.
โ๏ธ Core Technical Principles
1. HSL Color Space Dynamic Generation Unlike simple RGB randomization, this test engine generates color blocks based on the HSL (Hue, Saturation, Lightness) model.
- Base Generation: Each level, the program randomly locks an HSL coordinate as the base color.
- Differential Calculation: The unique "target block" is micro-adjusted based on Lightness or Saturation.
- Exponential Decay: As the Level increases, the difference ($Delta E$) between the target block and the base color decreases non-linearly. After Level 40, this difference may be only 1% - 2%, approaching the Bit Depth limit of standard sRGB monitors.
2. Visual Crowding & Interference
- Grid Fission: The grid rapidly expands from an initial 2x2 to a high-density 8x8 layout.
- Peripheral Suppression: As block density increases, your Fovea (central vision) is strongly interfered with by surrounding similar colors. This tests not only the sensitivity of your retinal cone cells but also your visual cortex's ability to filter "visual noise."
๐ฎ Rules & Scoring Mechanism
Survival Mode This test uses a ruthless countdown mechanism to force rapid decision-making under pressure.
- Initial Time: 15 seconds.
- Reward Mechanism: +1 second for every correct answer (capped at 15 seconds). This requires you to maintain a high-frequency and accurate clicking rhythm.
- Penalty Mechanism: -3 seconds for every wrong answer. Blind guessing will end the game instantly.
Ranking Reference:
- Lv 10 - 20 (Bat): Likely limited by monitor quality or ambient lighting. Check screen settings.
- Lv 20 - 30 (Mole): Average level for adults.
- Lv 30 - 40 (Hound): Excellent color intuition, capable of capturing medium color differences.
- Lv 40 - 50 (Tiger): Professional-grade vision. Often seen in designers, colorists, or visual artists.
- Lv 50+ (Eagle): Your color discrimination is in the top 1% of humans, potentially exceeding the gamut expression of standard displays.
๐ฅ๏ธ Hardware & Environmental Impact
This is a hardware-dependent test. If you hit a bottleneck, it might not be your eyes:
- Panel Quality: IPS and OLED panels generally distinguish subtle color differences better than TN panels.
- Color Depth: 10-bit displays have a physical advantage in handling high-level stages (extremely low $Delta$), avoiding color banding.
- Ambient Interference: Screen glare or dim lighting significantly reduces human Contrast Sensitivity.
It is recommended to take the challenge on a monitor with moderate brightness and standard color temperature (6500K).
