Chimp Test
Can you beat a chimpanzee's memory? Test your visual working memory and cognitive speed with this famous experiment from Kyoto University. A challenging brain game to improve your short-term memory.
Test Your Visual Working Memory
What is the Chimp Test?
The Chimp Test is based on memory research with chimpanzees at Kyoto University. Studies show that trained young chimpanzees can outperform adult humans on short-term memory tasks! This test measures your visual short-term memory.
How to Play
- Numbers (1, 2, 3...) will appear at random positions on the grid
- Memorize their positions
- Click on "1" and all numbers will be hidden
- Click the positions in ascending order
- Each level adds one more number
Are You Smarter Than a Chimp?
Based on research data and global statistics:
- ๐ Chimp Level (Level 20+): Congratulations! You might have superhuman memory!
- ๐ง Memory Master (Level 14 - 18): Exceptional, top 5% of humans.
- ๐ฆ Average (Level 8 - 12): Normal range for healthy adults.
- ๐ข Needs Practice (Level < 6): Could be fatigue or distraction.
Why Is This Test So Hard?
This test specifically challenges your working memory capacity and rapid encoding ability. Unlike sequence memory, you need to remember multiple spatial positions simultaneously in a very short time.
Tips to Improve
- Chunk by Region: Divide the screen into zones and remember numbers within each zone.
- Plan a Path: Imagine a route connecting all numbers, like solving a maze.
- Act Immediately: Start planning your path as soon as numbers appear.
- Minimize Distractions: Find a quiet environment; this test is very sensitive to interruptions.
